What’s New in SOLIDWORKS PDM 2026: Key Enhancements for Smarter Data Management

Image
Introduction SOLIDWORKS PDM 2026 introduces powerful enhancements that improve vault administration, security, usability, and upgrade efficiency. From workflow archiving and advanced folder navigation to stronger encryption and smarter file version upgrades, these updates help organizations manage product data more securely and efficiently across teams and locations. NEW ENHANCEMENTS IN SOLIDWORKS PDM 2026 Archive Workflows: Ø We can now archive workflows directly within the SOLIDWORKS PDM Administration tool. Ø This new capability allows administrators to manage and preserve obsolete or legacy workflows without deleting them from the vault database. Ø Archiving helps maintain a streamlined environment while retaining access to workflow definitions for reference or auditing purposes. Ø When a workflow is archived, it becomes read-only and is visually identified in the workflow list as “Archived.” Files associated with an archived workflow remain in their curren...

SOLIDWORKS Drawings 2026 Updates: Dimensions, Annotations, and Auto Drawing Tools

Image
SOLIDWORKS Drawings 2026 introduces several enhancements aimed at improving clarity, accuracy, and efficiency in 2D documentation. From smarter dimension handling and cleaner annotation alignment to automated drawing creation and improved tolerance symbols, these updates help designers create professional, easy-to-read drawings with less manual effort. Adding Breaks to Dimension Lines around Dimension Text You can create gaps in dimension lines to keep them from covering or overlapping the dimension text. How to add breaks to dimension lines (so the text doesn’t overlap): ·         Right-click on the dimension line that crosses over the text. ·         Click “Add Dimension Break.” Optional: ·         To remove the break later, right-click and choose “Remove Dimension Breaks.” ·         To change or adjust the break, right-click and ch...

What’s New in SOLIDWORKS 2026: Structure System and Weldments Enhancements

Introduction SOLIDWORKS 2026 introduces powerful updates to the Structure System and Weldments, improving corner handling and simplifying access to cut list properties for faster, more efficient design workflows.  SOLIDWORKS 2026 What’s New - Structure System and Weldments Accessing Cut List Properties from File Properties:                               In SOLIDWORKS 2026 , managing weldment data is easier and more convenient. You can now access Cut List Properties directly from the Configuration Properties tab in the File Properties dialog box. Figure 1 Benefits:                      This enhancement allows you to quickly access and update cut list information without navigating multiple menus , improving efficiency during design and documentation. Enhanced Corner Treatments:  Corner handling in Structure System has been improved ...

SOLIDWORKS Simulation: What’s New in 2026?

Image
This blog highlights the latest updates and improvements introduced in SOLIDWORKS Simulation 2026. Applied Forces on Beams Now you have greater flexibility when applying forces to beam bodies. Previously, forces could only be applied using the Per Item option, assigning the full load to each selected beam. The new Total option in the Force/Torque Property Manager refer (figure1) allows you to apply a single force shared across multiple beams. The load is automatically distributed proportionally to each beam’s length , ensuring a more realistic and efficient setup. Key Benefits: ·         More accurate load distribution across connected beams. ·         Reduced manual effort in defining multiple load cases. ·         Improved modelling efficiency for frame and truss structures   Buckling Studies The buckling analysis workflow has been refined to provid...
