How to Convert an Imported Body into a Sheet Metal Part in SOLIDWORKS?
CONVERTING IMPORTED BODY INTO SHEET METAL PART
You can convert any imported sheet metal type part to a SOLIDWORKS sheet metal part.
Step 1:
Open an Imported Sheet Metal Part.

Step 2:
Right-click the imported Model in the Feature Manager Design Tree and
Select Import Diagnostic option to heal all the faulty faces and gaps.
Import Diagnostics:
If gaps or faulty faces are found in imported files, the option Attempt
to Heal All can be used.
A diagnostic check and address geometry errors immediately after a
file is imported in SOLIDWORKS.
Step 3:
Right-click the imported Model in the Feature Manager Design Tree and Select
FeatureWorks option to recognizes features on an imported solid body in a
SOLIDWORKS part document.
FeatureWorks :
When importing files into SOLIDWORKS, FeatureWorks applies intelligence to
static geometric data, recognizes it, and then readies it for use in
SOLIDWORKS.
Select Recognize Mode to Automatic
And Feature Type as Sheet Metal
Select the required Automatic Feature recognize and select the fixed
face for flatten.

Step 4 :
Convert to Sheet Metal:
Click Convert to Sheet Metal from the command manager.
Select the a face that will be fixed plane of the flattened sheet.
Enter the Sheet Metal Parameter.
Select the Bend Edges.
After all the edges have been added, click OK.
To flatten the part either unsuppress the Flat Pattern feature or click
Flatten.
