How to Create and Manage Custom Properties in SOLIDWORKS?

SOLIDWORKS Custom Property

You can create text properties, list properties, or material properties.

Once you create a property, you can apply it to an entire standard, category, or type, or an individual component. For text configuration-specific properties, you can type values directly in the configurations table. The custom properties you assign appear in the component Property Manager. When using the component, Toolbox users can enter custom property values in the Property Manager.

Step 1: File Properties Menu
The file properties menu is the most popular and probably the least efficient way to enter or read custom properties.

Step 2: On the Custom tab or Configuration Specific tab:

Click <Type a new property> in the Property Name column for the blank property row, then type a custom property name.
Select a property type in the Type column for the new property
If necessary, repeat the previous step to add more custom properties, and click OK.

Step 3: Edit Custom Properties list

By using edit list option, we can easily add the any properties in this list and also delete unwanted properties also.

Open the properties.txt files from default location which find out by (system opt–>file location –>custom property files)

After that we can easily modified that property list.

The Custom Property Tab Builder

With the Property Tab Builder, you can make sure that all parts/assemblies have their important custom properties.

Groupbox: The Groupbox is essentially a container that allows you to group the other items. For example, you can place part information such as Part Numbers, Article Numbers, and Descriptions into a Groupbox and material information like Material, Finish, and Weight into another Groupbox. Each Groupbox can have a name.

Textbox: This item accepts free-form text and stores it as an associated property.

List: List boxes present users with a list of predefined values that once selected will be stored as a property.

Number: A number box accepts only number inputs to store as a property.

Checkbox: With a checkbox, you can have the user select between two predefined values to place as a property.

Radio: Radio buttons allow you to define a selection of up to three predefined values that can be used to show or hide elements in the dialog. As an example, you might want different text boxes to show based on the selected radio button.

After completed the Property tab builder, we have to save it at default location (step 3). Then rebuild the SOLIDWORKS and open the custom properties in task pane, Now it shows Property list and click Apply.

Finally, open the file property menu (step 1) and it shows customized Property list.

How to Create a Broken-Out Section View in SOLIDWORKS Drawings?

SOLIDWORKS BROKEN-OUT SECTION VIEW IN DRAWING

Step-1: Click the Broken-out Section on the View Layout Command Manager tab.
Step-2: Create a spline where needs the Broken-out view.

Step-4: Then Click OK.
Step-5: Now, Click the depth of view on the other drawing view.
Step-6: Here you can see the section Line in Yellow colour.
Step-7: Also You can enter the depth value Manually.
Step-8: Once the depth is set then the preview is shows

Step-9 : Here you can see the 3D Drawing View option Shown on the below figure.
Step-10 : By Enabling this option you can able to view the 2D drawing in 3D View, also shown on the below image.

Keep in touch with your team through communities and conversations on 3DSwym. Build dashboards to provide a quick overview of all of your important information with 3DDashboard.

Access secure cloud based storage and synchronize your local files with 3DDrive, and that ’s the beginning of what this role covers.

This role is the foundation of the entire platform and everyone that has access to the platform will utilize this role.

Key Apps Included with 3DSwymer

3DDashboard

3DDashboard allows you to build interactive dashboards to manage all your work in one place and streamline your process. Add other available apps as widgets to create data analytic dashboards, approval dashboards, communication and information dashboards, and more. The possibilities are endless! You can even add members to your dashboards so that you and your team all have access to the same data.

3DSwym

3DSwym is at the heart of communication and virtual collaboration on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform. Cut down on the bulk of your emails and stop missing vital information. With this app, you can build communities where members can create posts in a social media style format that is intuitive for all users to adapt to. This app also brings private conversations to the table allowing you to have private chats with your connections. If that wasn’t good enough, you can even carry out voice and video chats directly on the platform from
3DSwym!

3DPlay

3DPlay is a cloud-based file viewer application. This allows you to preview all your essential files directly on the platform. You can view files such as PDFs or image files such as JPG’s or PNG’s, but more importantly, it allows you to view your CAD files (2D and 3D) right in your browser. This removes the need for external programs such as eDrawings, providing users with an install-free, cloud-based CAD viewer. With over 50 accepted file types, it’s more than just a viewer. You can also take basic measurements, create markups, and take screenshots that will post directly to your 3DSwym communities or conversations.

This greatly increases the collaboration capabilities with your team, allowing non-CAD users to easily view and provide feedback on the status of models.

3DDrive

3DDrive brings secure cloud storage functionality to everyone using 3DEXPERIENCE. There are some other storage solutions incorporated in other roles, but this allows everyone to store important project files directly on the cloud. You can even use it to synchronize files that you have stored to your hard drive to the cloud, providing you with greater data security and accessibility from different devices.

It also behaves as a cloud-based file sharing, allowing you to share copies or share access to the original with others. Don’t worry about anyone making unwanted changes, because document history is tracked, allowing you to revert to previous versions if necessary. Each user is provided a default of 5GB of storage space and more can be added as needed.

3DSketch

3DSketch brings Innovation to the Collaborative Business Innovator role. This app allows you to create sketches of your concepts in a 3D environment and post them to your communities for your teammates to review.

Every project needs to start somewhere, and napkin sketches are a thing of the past when you have access to 3DEXPERIENCE. It provides you with line smoothing, quick snapping, and even allows you to draw over pictures.

3DStory

Sometimes creating a lengthy post or email just doesn’t cut it when presenting project proposals, updates, reviews, etc. PowerPoint presentations can get the point across, but the presentations tend to be bland and not at all optimized for use with CAD data. 3DStory allows you to create engaging presentations that you can share with your team on your communities. It even allows you to put 3D models in your slides that users can interact with while viewing the presentation.

Globe Viewer
