 Enhance Your Design Process with 3DEXPERIENCE Product Explorer & 3DNavigate

In the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform, we can explore the seamless design experience through enhanced collaboration and data maintenance, leading to a streamlined product development process. Users who’ve migrated from SOLIDWORKS Desktop to cloud may face challenges in finding references or exporting their files directly from the cloud. In that context, 3DEXPERIENCE Product Explorer has a major impact in handling product structures. Let’s take a look at 3DEXPERIENCE Product Explorer and its impact on your design process.

Getting Started

Login to your 3DEXPERIENCE Platform, click the Compass icon to access the Collaborative Industry Innovator role and select the app Product Explorer.

It opens along with 3DNavigate, which helps to visualize the 3D model.

Opening Content

Click Open Content to open your assembly from the 3DSpace.
Here, we take a Grill Assembly as an example and the product’s assembly structure is shown in Product Explorer. Also, the 3D representation of the assembly structure is visualized in 3DNavigate.

Interactive Visualization

To view the 3D geometry of a specified component, select a component in Product Explorer, and its 3D representation is highlighted in 3DNavigate.

View Options & Structure Control

In Product Explorer, the structure view can be switched between Tree view and Graph view.
You also have options for component selection based on levels: parent, child, leaves, etc.

Export Tools

In the Tools tab:

  • Export: Generates the entire assembly tree as an Excel file.

  • Export As: Allows you to export all files into a CAD package (.zip) to your local machine.

Downloading Data

Users will be notified once the export is completed. Click the notification to be redirected to CAD Data Processor Monitoring to download the files.
After downloading and extracting the .zip file, you’ll find the complete assembly and all its child components.

Review & Analysis in 3DNavigate

Apart from visualizing the 3D model in 3DNavigate, you can:

  • Take measurements

  • Section the model

  • Check the relationships between parts in the 3D model

3DEXPERIENCE Product Explorer and 3DNavigate enable you to review your product designs and metadata directly in the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform.
You can also share CAD data with external collaborators and team members who are not on the platform, and distribute manufacturing deliverables directly to shop floor machinists.
