Creating drawings for each component manually during the design process can often be a tedious and time-consuming task. Many times, the views and positions in these drawings are similar across different components, which makes the process even more repetitive. Fortunately, with the new Auto-Generate Drawing feature in SOLIDWORKS 2025 and 3DEXPERIENCE SOLIDWORKS, this time-consuming process can now be automated, significantly improving efficiency and productivity in your design workflow.
Pre-Requisites for Auto-Generating Drawings:
UES or XWC must be available in latest version
Default drawing templates.
Default templates.
BOM (Bill of Materials) templates.
Family table templates.
Revision table templates.
Working:
The process is quite simple. Open the part or assembly for which you need to generate the drawing. Select the Assemblies or Parts for which the drawing needs to be generated, right-click, and then select Auto-Generate Drawing.
Follow the images attached below where drawing is generated for a top-level assembly and 2 individual parts which there in the assembly.
STEP 1:
Assembly is opened > By right-clicking the top-level assembly in feature manager design tree/Files in menu bar > Auto generate drawing.
Step 2:
Select the components for which drawing need to be generated and also you can change the file name and the location of the drawing to be generated.
Step 3:
Once you click, the Auto generate drawing task starts to run in queue and once status shows green tick, you can open the drawing.
Step 4:
Modify the sheet size and model scale according to the requirement and save the drawing.

If “Unable to create drawing views” errors come,
Make sure the UES and XWC is updated to the latest release.
Repair both CEF for SOLIDWORKS and 3DEXPERIENCE Launcher.
