xDrawing – How Do We Define Success?

In 3DEXPERIENCE Works, we have the capability to create 3D part model & assemblies in the web application like xShape & xDesign.

Similarly, we have xDrawing application for detailing the product (3D model).

xDrawing is a 2D Drawing and MBD environment helps to define, organize, communicate and 3D Annotations.

Manufacturing Definition Creator
A role which helps to detailing the model information with the combination
of both 2D Drawings & MBD functionalities. It has two applications.
1. xDrawing
2. Derived Format Converter

What we can do?
• Creates 3D model geometry information
• Annotations for critical tolerances, datums, machining info etc.
• 2Drawings with detailed dimensios

Creating Model Based Definitions
Import (or) Open the 3dxml file from your 3D Space and create the drawing views using the tools for specific views under view creation tab.

  • 3DViews: Isometric, Dimetric, Trimetric
  • 2DViews: Orthographic views (Front, Rear, Top, Bottom, Right, Left)
  • Auxiliary View: Using Inclined face of the model
  • Flatten View: Flat views the model (Applicable only to SheetMetal)
  • Section View: Internal structure of a product using planes
  • Select the views for detailing and click to create & add the view in Model Definition Manger.

Add an Annotations in the specific views, after that we can copy the entire data in the Drawing Sheet.

Select the view, and create dimensions, tolerances, datums etc. by the given tools in the Annotation tab. (Please refer the sample image below)

Create 2D Drawings:
Create a Drawing environment using the tool “Drawings Environment “or “Create Sheet”.

Define the sheet name, sheet format, layout & the angle of projection while creating a new sheet. The default attributes of the model, which linked to the sheet are updated after creating a sheet.
Now, Drag and drop the required views into the drawing sheet from the 3D Views which we created before with annotations.
The view placed on the drawing sheet along with the drawing annotations of specific views.

Adding BOM table & Ballooning
In drawing, BOM is most important one consists of material & resources information’s which helps to manufacture a product.
To add, Go to Annotations > BOM Table
where also has the option General Table, Cutlist & Bend Table.
You can customize the BOM by add a column to include the properties
which required for the manufacturing.

After BOM table creation, add Balloons on the specific view using the tool
“Auto Ballooning” in Annotations tab.

Generate an Output
After creating 2D Drawing, save the file and release the 3D & 2D Drawing into manufacturing as per below formats by using the tool “2D Output” in Tools tab.
3D Views – PDF
2D Views – PDF, DWG, DXF

Final Output
