Customizing SOLIDWORKS Inspection Report for your Quality Process
The SolidWorks Inspection Template Editor is a tool used to customize the layout and content of Excel-based inspection reports. It allows you to define how data extracted from drawings (like dimensions, tolerances, notes, etc.) will appear in the final inspection document.

Steps to create Customized Report Template:
1. Open SOLIDWORKS Inspection
Launch the SOLIDWORKS Inspection Standalone application or Add-in, then select the “Template Editor” from inspection file menu.
2. Load your custom Excel Template
After selecting the Template Editor, browse and open your customized

3. Map Project Information to the Template
✓ Select a Cell in the Excel template where you want to insert project data (e.g., part number, dimension value).
✓ Choose a Token from the Template Editor dialog and then click Insert to place it into the selected cell.
4. Finalize and Save the Template
Repeat for process for all necessary fields. Once all tokens have been inserted and the layout is complete, click “Finished” to save the template in Excel Template format (*.xlt). This file is now ready to be used for generating custom inspection reports.
