What’s New in SOLIDWORKS 2026 Assemblies: Smarter Rebuild Control for Cosmetic Changes
Introduction
SOLIDWORKS 2026 introduces a
powerful enhancement for assembly performance by giving users better control
over rebuild behavior during cosmetic changes. With a new rebuild option,
designers can avoid unnecessary updates caused by non-essential modifications,
improving efficiency when working with large and complex assemblies.

Specifying
Rebuild Requirements for Cosmetic Changes:
- In SOLIDWORKS 2026, you have greater control over assembly rebuild behavior when cosmetic changes are made to referenced parts.
- The new option, “Mark assembly as modified when cosmetic changes are made,” lets you decide if a rebuild is needed for nonessential updates.
Changes that do not require a rebuild include:
·
Changing the visibility of reference
geometry.
· Adding, modifying, deleting, or hiding
a sketch that does not drive geometry.
· Showing or hiding bodies when hidden
bodies are excluded from mass property calculations.
·
Adding, modifying, or removing part
appearances or decals.
·
Cancelling changes to a feature in a
part.
Options:
·
Always: Rebuild for every cosmetic change.
·
Prompt: Ask before rebuilding.
·
Never: Skip rebuilds for cosmetic
updates.
