What’s New in SOLIDWORKS 2026: 3DEXPERIENCE Integration Enhancements
This chapter highlights all the enhancements that improve how you use SOLIDWORKS with the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.
These updates focus on tighter integration, optimized workflows, and simplified
data management between desktop design and cloud collaboration environments.
The features described in this chapter are available in both SOLIDWORKS Connected (3DEXPERIENCE SOLIDWORKS roles) and SOLIDWORKS with the 3DEXPERIENCE add-in (Collaborative Designer for SOLIDWORKS role).
i) 3DEXPERIENCE Components in SOLIDWORKS
The workflow for
handling 3DEXPERIENCE components in SOLIDWORKS is now faster and more
streamlined.
- Insertion:
Components are automatically inserted as 3DEXPERIENCE components without
any dialog prompts.
- Derived Parts: A
new Create Derived Part dialog replaces the older workflow. You can now
save to the 3DEXPERIENCE platform at any time after creating the derived part.
- Editing: When
editing a 3DEXPERIENCE component, the Create Derived Part dialog appears,
allowing changes through a derived file.
- Opening Components: Components open in view-only mode. Editing tools are disabled, but you can still measure, rotate, or zoom. To modify, simply create a derived part.
This enhancement
simplifies the design workflow and ensures smoother integration between
SOLIDWORKS and the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.
ii) 3DEXPERIENCE Transition Task in SOLIDWORKS Task Scheduler
The 3DEXPERIENCE
Transition Task replaces the previous Compatibility Task, providing an
improved method to update SOLIDWORKS files for use with the 3DEXPERIENCE
platform.
You can now use a .CSV file to select content from your computer and run macros during the transition process.
Benefits:
- Save time by
batch-processing files using .CSV input.
- Upgrade files to
the latest SOLIDWORKS version without enabling compatibility.
- Update custom
properties.
- Add rebuild and
display data marks.
This task simplifies data preparation and transition to the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.
iii) Linking PLM Attributes to BOM Columns
3DEXPERIENCE users can
now link PLM attributes directly to Bill of Materials (BOM) columns in
SOLIDWORKS. These linked columns automatically update when connected to the
3DEXPERIENCE platform, ensuring data consistency between design and product
lifecycle management.
Benefits:
- Automatically synchronize BOM data with 3DEXPERIENCE PLM attributes.
- Simplify data migration by linking BOMs directly to platform attributes.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date product information across systems.
This enhancement strengthens connectivity between
SOLIDWORKS BOM management and the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.
