WHAT’S NEW IN SOLIDWORKS ELECTRICAL 2026
SOLIDWORKS Electrical 2026 introduces a set of smart enhancements focused on improving usability, accuracy, and workflow efficiency. From advanced cable management and flexible wire routing to improved connector handling and direct data updates in 3D, this release addresses many everyday challenges faced by electrical designers. In this article, we shall explore the key new features in SOLIDWORKS Electrical 2026 and how they help efficient electrical design process from schematic to 3D.

Cable Management
Cable management and
configuration is enhanced for a better user experience.
- Earlier,
filtering options were simple(by name, type, manufacturer.), making it hard to
isolate specific cables or conditions. You can now filter cables and cores with
far greater precision.
- New Filters Include:
- Reference
- Function
- Harness
- Separate 3D route assembly
- Routed
- Pre-reserved cables
- Associated with wire
- New commands have been added directly inside the Cable Management dialog box to make managing cables even faster
|
Command |
Description |
|||
|
Swaps
two selected cable cores automatically. During the switch, the software
dissociates and re-associatewires seamlessly, even between different cables |
|||
|
Instantly opens the schematic where the selected cable or core is placed.
|
|||
|
Opens
the component browser and highlights the cable’s origin component. |
Hiding
System Classes
- You can now hide - unused or default system classes to simplify the Classification design tree in SOLIDWORKS Electrical.
- Hidden classes remain visible in the Classification Management dialog box but areremoved from library and selection interfaces.
- Custom subclasses under system classesstay visible to preserve the hierarchy
To hide system classes from
symbol and manufacturer:
- In the ribbon, click Library > Classification management.
- In the Classification management dialog, click Classes visibility.
- In the Classes visibility dialog box, select the classes to hide.
Routing Selected Wires Separately
- In previous releases, you could route wires for all the components or select the components to route their respective wire
- Now, you can route a specific wire or a set of selected wires separately using Selected wires in the Route Wires PropertyManager
To route selected wires separately:
1. In the ribbon, click Route
Wires.
2. In the Route wires PropertyManager,
a) ClickSelected wires.
3. In the Wires dialog box:
a)
Select the
wires to route together.
b) Click Select.
4. Click ok to confirm
Connector Dynamic Insertion
The Connector Dynamic Insertion
dialog box has been enhanced with several productivity improvements.
Enhancements include:
- Larger dialog box for showing details of connector circuits and pins
- Better filtering capabilities
- Improved management of connectors with a large number of pins
- Easier access to the Insert connector command
- Opens the Select circuits to draw dialog box
Update and Replace Project
Data
In earlier versions,
these tools were available only in SOLIDWORKSElectrical Schematic. If you
made updates to manufacturer part properties, cable references, symbols, or
title blocks, you had to:
- Switch from Electrical 3D back to Electrical Schematic.
- Run the update
- Then return to Electrical 3D to continue your work.
This constant back-and-forth process was time-consuming and less efficient
- With the new version, Update Data and Replace Data commands are now built right into SOLIDWORKS Electrical 3D
This means you can now:
- Update project data directly in
3D.
- Replace existing manufacturer or component data.
- Keep all electrical and mechanical design data in sync— without switching back to Schematic.
SOLIDWORKS Electrical 2026 continues to refine the electrical design experience by focusing on what matters most—speed, clarity, and better control.
